I don't know about those two in particular, but parts of that kernel thread seemed to descend into anti-systemd circlejerking. There does seem to be an unreasonable amount of negativity just because of the association with systemd.

The only thing related to systemd in that thread is that systemd is quite sure to be using kdbus and all its functionality and is likely to require it as soon as it is mainlained, so it was disingenuous to dismiss API design criticism on the basis that "it is all optional anyway". That is a reasonable assumption and not some kind of anti-systemd hate.

Yes, a lot of that thread was unnecessary derailing in the form of 'this is unnecessary because I don't like D-Bus or systemd and let me explain at you why I don't'. I didn't see that coming from Eric and Andy though.
