The point of sending patches is that it's the best way to ask questions about the code because it first requires the patch submitter to think about the change and to document the reasons for making it. Many, many questions are answered in the process of making a change and writing a decent commit message.

I knew this idea under the name "Teddy Bear"; never heard about rubber ducks before. Yet when I Googled https://www.google.com/search?q=teddy+bear+code+review this page came first even though neither "Teddy" nor "Bear" are in it...

Just in case someone did not know -- the contents of a page have minimal direct impact on what searches Google sends it's way. Google is fundamentally based not on looking at the content of pages, but finding how the page is linked to by the rest of the internet, and what words are used near it's links. By making this post, you actually reinforced the "Teddy Bear Code Review" -> wiki/Rubber_Duck_Debugging connection. Presumably, enough people have done the same in the past to make the connection strong enough to be the first choice.
