Maybe because this is LWN (Linux Weekly News), not BWN (BSDs Weekly News). ;-)))

While the name was originally derived from Linux Weekly News, it doesn't mean that anymore (since many years ago) and the topic is really free software.

LWN has covered the BSDs.

I predict that the people who care about BSDs will keep being surprised this year by most of the world forgetting about the existence of the BSDs :)

Inviting the obvious prediction that this year Theo de Raadt comes off with some splashy riff that
(a) makes a strong technical point,
(b) reminds everyone that the BSDs still have their audience, and
(c) ensures the pot stays stirred.

This is actually a very good prediction. I'm thinking of saving it for next year too.
