Oh really ? I have been using Linux as a desktop since 1997; currently running my *company*-provided desktop PCs with openSuSE.
Fluently on the command line ? Yes, but very fond of my KDE4 desktop, wouldn't miss it.

Well I like my notebook to boot fast...which it does thanks to systemd.
