If you set font size scaling to 1.5, how well is that handled by older X clients such as xterm?

100% of what I run respects that setting, other than Firefox, which has its own setting.

xterm does not, but I don't run xterm. If you want apps like xterm to automatically scale, you'd have to set the X server DPI.
