Building a solid house with planking and screws, which doesn't leak, fall down, shake apart with wind vibration, rot due to pooled water, etc is quite a challenge.

I don't see any reason why somebody couldn't contribute low-CNC requirements designs to this project, and anything made with a CNC can be made by hand, so a hybrid approach is entirely possible.

If a suitably simple, adoptable design could be created, then there might even be a market for re-usable paper or plastic templates to hand-cut many of the parts from timber.
