there is a spice X server wrapper, called Xspice out there, not sure how supported it is.

Also spice covers audio and usb stuff, which you can't do with just an X wrapper.

I'm using Xspice daily for about a year or two to remote KDE Plasma, and it's working pretty well with X11, Windows and Android clients.

* = I replaced NX 3 with it because Qt started moving away from XRender, which made it slow on NX 3, and NX 4 became fully closed source.
