Kernel release status
The current development kernel is 3.17-rc4, released on September 7 after a week
that, at least toward the end, was characterized by Linus as "pretty
normal." "
'Pretty normal' isn't bad, though, and I'm not complaining. There is nothing particularly big or scary going on - we had a quick scare about a stupid compat layer bug, but it seems to have been just a false positive and resulted in some added commentary rather than any real code changes."
Stable updates: 3.16.2, 3.14.18, and 3.10.54 were released on September 5.
The backlog of stable patches is said to be large at the moment, so expect
more (large) updates in the near future.
