Oh, come on. The mess of SysV init scripts is almost as far from portable as humanly possible.

According to https://lwn.net/Articles/584175/ , each Linux distro often had their own initscripts per package. When sysv init scripts are not even portable across Linux distributions, that can't be called anything but unportable.
