Well, systemd is basically a rewrite of upstart, fixing those problems which were found with upstart, without CLA, and with more features. There is little reason to be enthusiastic about upstart over systemd, as I see it.
So if you don't like change, then of course you prefer sysvinit

From skimming the discussion on debian-devel, the it is more like "rants" rather than "arguments" in favor of sysv. Certainly no serious discussion of sponsoring a GR to overturn the systemd decision.
