Unfortunately... the more problematic loose coupling ballot Ian proposed, in anger, is still live and the L option as now met quorum. The other TC members really need to vote on that ballot and ensure FD wins so that the appropriate discussion about init coupling between Russ and Steve can continue and work for a better option than the very prescriptive and restrictive policy Ian has proposed.

With this ballot live, an open-ended future where Debian maintainers are disallowed from requiring any advanced feature not provided by sysvinit is still very possible.. and that's just absurd. That's more absurd than the possibility of choosing minit as as default.

I think you're right, but it's not the end of the world outside of the ctte. The rest of the project can begin the work to support the resolution that has closed, and can wait for the closure of this one before having to act on it.
