From what I'm seeing, people really want systemd because of its technical advantages. And nobody argues (well, except for Canonical employees) that systemd is really more advanced.

And it looks like there's not anybody who wants to switch to upstart for the sake of upstart. Lots of people are simply _opposed_ to systemd or to its non-portability.

That tells something.

So we will see if technical in the committee name really stands. Or will the decision be political.

no matter what is decided, some people will claim the decision was political, not technical.
