It's even worse than that, it's that any lack of evidence is just more proof as to how sinister and wily the NSA engineers are and how deep the rabbit hole goes. It's a flawed and inaccurate model of thinking.

you are trying to put words in my mouth. Nowhere did I get near the idea of "it's that any lack of evidence is just more proof as to how sinister...".

Note there was a lack of evidence before 2013 of much of what got into the news due to Snowden. It didn't mean the shit wasn't actually happening before 2013. It just means now you know about it. Maybe in 2014 we'll learn more interesting things about the vulnerability of popular open source projects. Call it a new years prediction/speculation.

Is your irony/sarcasm/whatever meter faulty?

Cheers,

I'll pick my irony/sarcasm/whatever meter off the floor, and start trying to fix it, if you agree to pick your reality meter off the floor, and start trying to fix it as well.

The days of shouting down with accusations of mental illness people with a clue who understand how insecure our technologies are, and how likely they are being successfully covertly exploited due to ordinary human natures are over.
