You don't have to convince me of the merits of the discussions but I think common objections in a single place is actually quite valuable and seeing them addressed as part of the discussion makes it easier for everyone to understand the viewpoints of the people involved.

As for summarising common arguments for and against the contenders, I think the Debian Wiki is far more informative.

The debate in the wiki is useful from the point of advocates of the respective technology but the discussion in the committee is useful to understand the decision points. I find both perspectives very interesting.
