0install 2.0 has just been released:

  http://0install.net/0install-2.0.html

Zero Install is a decentralised cross-platform software installation
system available under the LGPL. It allows software developers to
publish programs directly from their own web-sites, while supporting
features familiar from centralised distribution repositories such as
shared libraries, automatic updates and digital signatures. It is
intended to complement, rather than replace, the operating system's
package management. 0install packages never interfere with those
provided by the distribution.

The 0install 2.0 feed format is 100% backwards compatible with the 1.0
format (all software distributed for 1.0 will also work with 2.0),
while supporting more expressive dependency requirements (optional,
OS-specific, restriction-only dependencies and dependencies for native
packages), more flexible version constraints, and executable bindings
(dependencies on executable programs, not just on libraries). The
updated software adds support for native packages on Arch, Cygwin,
Darwin, Fink and MacPorts (via integration with the distribution
package manager), a new "apps" system, allowing easier roll-back to a
previous set of versions after an update, improved diagnostics when no
selection is possible, shell tab completion in bash and zsh, and
better support for running on headless systems.

For reference, the 1.0 release was made on May 23, 2011:
