There an important new feature in OpenOffice 1.1, and that is CTL support. CTL means Complex Text Layout, which includes languages with complicated character sets such as Chinese, and Right-to-Left languages such as Hebrew and Arabic.

I've tested OO 1.1rc4 with Hebrew and it works very well and even imports Hebrew Word documents rather nicely.

While this may not seem important for the Western majority, support for non-Latin languages is (was?) one of Microsoft's last standing advantages over free solutions.

I'm glad to see this advantage dissovling with the advent of recent version of Gnome, OpenOffice, KDE and Koffice.

Eyal.
