GStreamer Conf: The approach of GStreamer 1.0

But the more pressing issue from GStreamer's perspective is that GNOME has decided to use 1.0 for its upcoming GNOME 3.6 release.

I didn't have the contact myself, but from what I understood when this was decided is that we based this on GStreamer timeframe. AFAIK they said they'd make 1.0 before 3.6 would be released. Because 1.0 would be API stable, you want do port applications over to ensure the API is sane.

In hindsight, we should've waited; ported only 1 application, the rest for 3.8 (longer GStreamer development plan). But hindsight is always easy.
