These are patches designed to improve system responsiveness and
interactivity with specific emphasis on the desktop, but suitable to
any commodity hardware workload.

This is mainly a resync and bugfix since 3.3-ck1.
BFS 422/3.4-ck1 were not announced on the mailing list till remaining
bugs were sorted out.
