The Ada Initiative granted tax-exempt status in the U.S.

The Ada Initiative has been granted tax-exempt status in the United States. "An urgent request: If you have donated to the Ada Initiative and your employer matches donations to U.S. non-profits, please submit your request for a matching donation by June 1, 2012 as that is the deadline for many matching donations. We estimate that we qualify for at least $5,000 USD and perhaps as much as $10,000 USD or more in matching donations, which for us is enough money to fund an entire program the size of Ada’s Advice. See the entry on matching donations in our FAQ in the blog post above."

Simon Phipps is the new OSI President (The H)

The H covers an announcement by the Open Source Initiative that Simon Phipps is the new president of the organization. "Phipps has already been spearheading an OSI reform process, working with the rest of the board to open up the organisation. That process has led to the creation of Open Source Initiative affiliation, bringing the Apache Software Foundation, FreeBSD, Eclipse, Mozilla, Debian, and Creative Commons, along with other organisations, on board as affiliates. "There will be further developments in that scheme soon, and we'll have much more to announce in other areas as the year progresses" said Phipps by email."
