Right, so how can a vendor create a single package that will work for even most of the major Linux distributions?
The lack of distribution coordination puts too much of a burden on software vendors. They create one package for Windows, one package for OSX, and then 7 different packages for Linux?
It is not possible to have a thriving distribution-neutral marketplace like the Google Market or the OSX App Store when there is no way for vendors to actually create distribution neutral packages.
