Or just revoke the compromised key. The best solution is to ensure that hardware isn't limited to running only one operating system. There are a number of more ethical ways to achieve this goal.

I take exception to broadly labeling the breaking of the boot key as unethical. Against the law ... maybe (even that is doubtful, and highly specific to a jurisdiction) -- unethical ... no.

Hrm, re-reading, I didn't mean to say breaking the boot key was unethical, but that's certainly how it reads. Apologies. How about instead of breaking the key, do what Garrett's doing which is to draw attention to the issue and try to fix it before it's a problem?
