Jokosher: A Completely Kosher Audio Multitool (LinuxInsider)

LinuxInsider reviews Jokosher, a multitrack audio editor. "Jokosher offers a solid list of features. Chief among its best assets is the interface. For example, the design has musicians in mind, so the terminology in the menus has a familiar ring. Of course, non-musicians might have to come up to speed with musicology phrases to reach a comfort zone with Jokosher."

Odd that they chose to review this now. It was a nice, promising-looking project, but now it seems to be basically dead - forum link on website is dead, no news on the website for over a year. It's a pity, and I hope that the article may revive interest in it.

Of course, since this is the Internet, if there is enough user interest in this project, somebody will come and contradict me. If there's no interest, nobody will read my comment and reply.

Still, Jokosher looks very much like this: http://www.jwz.org/doc/cadt.html

I thought it could be a very promising reaper-equivalent for Linux but it crashed all the time for me.

As an "experienced audiophile" I find it practically unusable in a Linux audio ecosystem, for example it has no direct JACK support (Jokosher uses GStreamer) and no support for any plug-in platform. It's basically a nice tool to jot down ideas quickly but nothing more than that. So in a way it does resemble GarageBand but it has not so much in common with Audacity (an audio editor), EnergyXT (a proprietary DAW) or Hydrogen (a sampler/sequencer/looper).

It supports both LADSPA and LADSPAv2 through GStreamer, so I don't understand why you claim they support no plugin platform.

Yup, you're right, sorry about that. You need the GStreamer bad plugins and then you can use the Instrument Effects on each track.
