it would be nice if they could back redhat with their own lawsuit. as they say, talk is cheap.

What about "UnitedLinux"?

How can SCO still be a member of "UnitedLinux"? Is there anything SuSE, Conectiva, or TurboLinux can do to oust SCO? Doesn't sound very "united" to me...

You mean, clean the corps...
SCO is alive because it's connected to a M$, pardon a live support machine...
When IBM starts to collect damages they wil be disconnected and dismantled...
So in a sense SCO no longer makes part of anything,..., so why worry ?.

A while ago when all this started there was an interview with the SuSE CEO in which he
admitted that the contracts unfortunately had no provision to excommunicate any party to
United Linux. So the only way out seems to be for the other three to leave UL with the
result of SCO owning UL alone and the others having to write off all investments into it.

It seems to me they are hoping for SCO to leave by themselves, e.g. by going belly-up,
before their own investments into UL are worthless because of a too close relation with the
troublemaker.

Then SuSE should sue for damages, and/or "divorce" for unreasonable conduct, so as to get SCO booted out of UL.

Mind you, I've said that they should sue SCO to disclose whoever this is that bought their "linux runtime licence", so they can go after that unnamed party for copyright theft ...

It'd be a nice counter if, on top of the RH/SCO suit, we could add "Buy SCO's licence and get sued by SuSE" :-)

I know SuSE aren't as rich as RH, but surely serving a subpoena isn't THAT expensive, especially as copyright theft is criminal and it shouldn't be difficult to seek an injunction in a copyright case ...

Cheers,
Wol
