Choosing between portability and innovation

I'd have to agree, last time (quite a few years ago) I tried to use the traffic shaping the documentation wasn't much help. The lartc howtos were great as cookbook "do it this way" examples, but if I started from scratch I was unable to write a tc ruleset that worked. That's not-worked as in wouldn't pass any traffic at all.

If there's better documentation now I'd love to know about it.

LOL..amen. Gotta love the high black arts of Linux network administration. Maybe it's time for O'reilly and Olaf to come out with a revised version of the Linux Network administrator's guide. My version is from 1995.
