In this month's CE Linux Forum newsletter:
* LinuxCon Japan
* Embedded Linux Conference Europe - Registration Almost Full!
* U-Boot ARM Enhancements
== LINUXCON JAPAN ==
CE Linux Forum was a platinum sponsor of LinuxCon Japan, held September
27-29 in Tokyo. This event was a great gathering of Linux developers,
including many embedded Linux developers. There were some very good
embedded talks at this event, mostly from CELF member companies.

Some of the highlights were: several presentations on MeeGo, including a
keynote by Dirk Hohndel of Intel, a talk on UBIFS, work on multi-platform
ARM kernels, discussion of SOC variations on ARM, and Tim Bird's traditional
"Status of Embedded Linux" talk.
Check the web site for slides and videos from the event.
== EMBEDDED LINUX CONFERENCE EUROPE - REGISTRATION ALMOST FULL! ==
If you haven't registered yet for Embedded Linux Conference Europe, set for
October 26-28 in Cambridge, UK, you should do so soon. This event is close
to selling out, and we'd hate to have you miss the fun and learning.
There will be numerous presentations and tutorials covering a wide array of
interesting topics, as well as a great chance to interact with numbers of
embedded Linux developers from both industry and the open source community.
See http://embeddedlinuxconference.com/elc_europe10/index.html for details
and link to registration.
== U-BOOT ARM ENHANCEMENTS ==
CELF is pleased to announce the completion of one of our contract work
projects - namely one to enhance U-boot for ARM platforms.
With sponsorship from CELF, Denx software has added support to U-boot for
runtime relocation of itself, and for utilization of CPU caches for
increased boot performance. The relocation feature provides much more
flexibility in
running U-Boot on similar boards, without having to reconfigure and
recompile it. The "turn on caches" feature provides some really great
improvements in kernel decompression speed (up to 15 times faster), to allow
for much quicker Linux boot times on ARM platforms.
These changes have been added to the upstream U-Boot source repositories and
should be available in the latest versions of U-Boot.
See http://www.denx.de/wiki/U-Boot/ for information about U-Boot

CE Linux Forum is an international, open source software development
community established in 2003. It is a forum of like-minded software
engineers dedicated to the development and enhancement of Linux-based
embedded devices through shared knowledge and collaboration. These engineers
bring their ideas and finest skills to missions such as decreasing system
size, startup/shutdown time, power consumption, improving compatibility to
various CPU architectures, developing middleware and more.
