Linux Users Standing Fast Despite SCO Legal Threats, InternetWeek Readers Say (TechWeb)

Tech Web reports that SCO's Linux lawsuit and threats seem to be having little affect on IT managers except to make them angry. "Fully 91 percent of people responding to an InternetWeek Reader Question said they will not change their Linux deployment plans as a result of SCO's actions."

Two things
  1. Having 9% of IT managers changing their plans based SCO's actions is still a lot of IT managers.
  2. The survey is self selecting for the "No" answer. So it's likely that a truely random survey, would show less of a "No" percentage.
SCO's legal threats are a significant problem, even though many IT managers are ignoring them.

Actually the 9% includes even those who were considering reducing their linux projects in response to the sco FUD... There's a lot of difference between considering (which is never a bad idea) and doing.

Of course, those who have a clue about linux need to consider for only a moment or so before they realize that sco is, in the words of one wise man, "full of it".

I find it appropriate that one commentator suggested "Maybe if SCO were to join the Business Software Alliance they would gain access to resources sufficient to perpetually pursue their absurd claims." Perhaps, if SCO comes to feel they are not learning the business of extortion quickly enough on the self-taught plan, they will indeed go to the pros.
