Not only that. There are those who use ancient 80-s technology (X10) for home automation. That's also a clear violation of well-established X marks :-)

That one actually did cause me confusion. I spent some time thinking people had somehow repurposed an obsolete remote display protocol for power control (who knows why they picked it, maybe they particularly liked extra roundtrips to the server over the mains? ;) )

The power-line control protocol predates the obsolete windowing system by a good 10 years. :)

Even Apple has joined the party with OS X. Maybe we need to open some X files?
