Are there any other libraries that return a buffer with XML data to the caller instead of a C struct?

Any library intended to write data in XML form, naturally. You can however find much more creative uses of XML at the TheDailyWTF.com. Sadly, now I wouldn't be surprised to see glibc popping up there soon.

Are there *any* libraries or protocols with similar binary compatibility
guarantees? (Other than X, whicih is having similar problems: there's no
way *it* can use XML over the wire, but it's recently had to
introduce 'generic events' because it's run out of spare events...)
