I very much appreciate the work that has been put into this. Just like the eee showed the world that a little cheap computer was possible (and, as a bonus, that Linux was possible even for normal folks) now, this shows that fast boots are possible. Maybe people will consider this goal to be more interesting and desirable. It certainly is for me. I currently use ratpoison on my eee because of the screen space and interface issues, but I do love the *much* faster boot cycle. I remember the computers of the 80's where you turn on the power switch and they were ready before you were.They were silent too...
