Yeah, the second edition was on my pre-order list for ages, too. My sources tell me that there was never any serious chance of it happening, but the publisher jumped the gun and led a lot of people to believe it would. I think the take-away is that the publisher is probably very receptive to offers to do the second edition of UNIX Internals HINT HINT HINT.

I actually sent an email to Uresh about it a couple of years ago when the 2nd edition was being advertised on Amazon, and he said he had turned down working on the project because he didn't have time available to work on it.
