GNOME 2.20 arrives on Linux desktops (DesktopLinux)
The first major update of GNOME, version 2.20, has arrived almost two and a half years after GNOME 2.10, its last big step forward. GNOME 2.20 boasts not just improvements to the desktop itself, but multiple significant improvements to GNOME's applications as well."

Gnome delivers a "+2" minor release every six months. Major updates would go from 2 -> 3 and I don't think anyone even knows what that might look like right now.

Err... Gnome 2.20 is no more a "major update" than was 2.18 or 2.16, or even 2.10 itself for that matter!! Pretty embarrassing for a tech site.GNOME 2.20 arrives on Linux desktops (DesktopLinux)
Not only that but the article is basically a copy of the gnome.org "what's new" page.GNOME 2.20 arrives on Linux desktops (DesktopLinux)
Nothing like a foolish consistency...someone's not been paying attention, it seems, and not got the email about version numbers not being required to turn over after 9. If the Gnome people had wanted to call it a "Two point two oh" release, I suspect they would have written it "2.2.0", and not "2.20". As it is, it seems pretty clear to me that this is release "Two point TWENTY", that being the new stable release after "Two point EIGHTEEN".GNOME 2.20 arrives on Linux desktops (DesktopLinux)
