Vancouver law firm trades in MS for desktop Linux (IT Business)

ITBusiness.ca profiles a law office which switched to Linux in Vancouver. "Whitelaw's rollout took one weekend and users were able to adapt to Linux using only a one-page instructional handout, says [IT manager Richard] Giroux. He adds that the change to Linux has reduced desktop maintenance by 20 per cent, 'and that's a conservative number'"

I'm not at all knowledgeable of law firms, so I wouldn't know, but is this even a large transition? I'm mentally picturing an office of maybe, oh, 50-100 computers being upgraded (and yes, I would consider it an "upgrade" :) ), as the article mentions "approximately 35 Windows-based laptops" in the firm.

Is this scale of migration still considered notable? I hope not.

Probably the most important thing here is the amount of training involved, that's less than we got when my office got new telephones.
