Yes, RPM (rpm.org) should remain as it is now (or even become smaller, whatever) -- keeping the UNIX principle is key.

I agree about that, but I also see that perhaps there should be a method to allow Fedora to have compatibility with the "rpm5" packages. I can see that RPM will never have a unified community, but it would be nice to have a way to port rpm5 packages back to rpm...
