The Ubuntu team is proud to announce version 7.04 of the Ubuntu family of distributions. Ubuntu is a Linux distribution for your desktop or server, with a fast and easy install, regular releases, a tight selection of excellent software installed by default, an incredible variety of add-on software available with a few clicks, and professional technical support from Canonical Limited and hundreds of other companies around the world. Ubuntu 7.04 is also the basis for new 7.04 releases of Kubuntu and Edubuntu: Kubuntu announcement http://www.kubuntu.org/announcements/7.04-release.php Edubuntu announcement http://www.edubuntu.org/news/7.04-release Ubuntu 7.04 will be supported for 18 months on both desktops and servers. Note that 6.06 LTS is a long-term support release, and so users requiring a longer support lifetime may choose to continue using that version rather than upgrade to or install 7.04. The site was extremely slow earlier on, but seems to be OK again now. Anyway, more importantly, I have been running 7.04 for a few weeks now, and it's very, very nice. Quite a few random niggles from 6.10 are gone.

I'm running Compiz on both desktops (one with a nvidia card, the other with a built-in intel 810) and it's working great. I've made my share of Windows sheeps stare in awe at Compiz' wobbly windows...
In all, a great desktop, highly stable, no problems to report so far.
I thinks congratulations are in order. :-)

It seems that Ubuntu has been with every desktop in town. At the minimum, it appears that
Eduard, Dr. Igor, Okonkwo, and Onuka all have been, um, serviced.

Thank you for those links. Now, the next question is: how would somebody find them by following links or doing searches from www.ubuntu.com?

Though I mainly put that down to the fact that the upgrade worked very well and virtually nothing broke!

I roam between completely open networks, WEP/WPA, and hidden SSID networks. Now kubuntu "just works" which is awesome. That alone makes this upgrade from dapper or feisty worth it.
I think the downloads are available, as I seem to have one :-)
Ubuntu 7.04 released
Downloads are available (I'm downloading right now) - but it seems the main "getubuntu" page hasn't been updated yet. Try the following links:Ubuntu 7.04 released

I've been running it for a week now, both at work and at home. I used apt-get dist-upgrade instead of downloading a full ISO, just like I do with Debian.Ubuntu 7.04 released
I'm another happy user. I've been running Kubuntu Feisty since the beta Ubuntu 7.04 released
was released and it has been rock solid.
Wasn't there supposed to be a release candidate first? This is not a good sign.Ubuntu 7.04 released
I just saw this item on David Nielsen's blog.

How come there don't seem to be any DVDs available?DVDs?
They are not that widely advertised, but this should be the final version: http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/dvd/current/. See also "ubuntu-7.04-dvd-i386.iso" at http://torrent.ubuntu.com:6969/, I'm not sure where would such a correctly renamed DVD iso image be elsewhere than in torrents.DVDs?
Re: DVDs?
I found it suprisingly hard to figure out what was actually new in Feisty Fawn. There are some things listed in some (but not all) of the press releases.Ubuntu 7.04 released

Well I found it quite hard to work out what was new in 7.04 and I'd just upgraded... :-)Ubuntu 7.04 released
This is the first-ever operating system that I saw advertised on Berlin's U-Bahn advertising TV system ("Berliner Fenster"). Congratulations Ubuntu. I am a regular reader of LWN but learned of this release on the U-Bahn first :-)Advertised on Berlin subway system TV
One of my biggest beefs with Linux is that I could never do wireless networking as easily as Windows does it. Wifi radar was the best I found previously, but when I went to a site with a hidden SSID, I still had to manually intervene. Windows would always remember that SSID and search for it if it didn't find something else it liked. Wireless networking finally improved
