I should have clarified what I meant by that. By "God" I mean someone who's claim to fame is actually creating and licensing a lot of OSS code, and not just commenting on others that do.

I agree that Linus absolutely does not want the job of God. But when deep in the territory of the cult of PJ, and carrying an unpopular opinion, one ends up needing to shout pretty loudly to be heard.

I know because I've been there. PJ ended up accusing me of being on Novell's payroll as an astroturfer and her troops were eager to believe it.

That was when I decided that it really wasn't worth the bother to visit the site, and the Groklaw domains are in my adblock plus list now.

Why should Linus, a gifted engineer, gain any greater respect when speaking about copyright law? Would you take Linus' advice regarding heart surgery also?
