Summary: the council has representatives from State Farm, Merrill Lynch, and Bank of America, and they're not happy with the high level of support required to keep Windows working on a large number of systems.

And I think the "secret" was that HP is playing with a sub-$200 Linux-based thin client. But that's hardly surprising: http://www.osnews.com/story.php?news_id=8398

Did I miss a much more interesting secret?

Probably HP doesn't want to irritate Microsoft to much. They still depend on MS for the bulk of their business.

I think this is was from that MS vs Ohio case were they released a bunch of emails to the public in PDF form...

Well basicly Dell has this guy in charge of the Linux division for the company. I suppose in charge of Linux strategy for servers and such.

So this guy goes to a Linux convention and rants and raves about how kick-ass Linux is and how it's cheaper and such. So MS representatives there call back to the motherbase and tell them what Dell has been saying behind their back.

Then the emails turn into how Microsoft needs to 'whack' Dell to remind them how valuable Microsoft is to them.
