Will this thing be unlocked, usable with any provider?

User hackable/programmable?

If so, it beats the tar out of iPhone in the two most important aspects.

I'll second that. I seriously looked at abusing the Qtopia Greenphone as my primary phone for that very reason. LWN, please keep us updated on this thing!

(I also like the micro-sd slot... I can always use more storage.)

Yeah - it's unlocked. And is completely hackable/programmable. The only
untouchable bit is a piece of userspace to access the GPS. These guys are
_really_ serious about freedom and openness.
