A rawhide update once removed my inittab file. Running rawhide proved a learning experience in many ways.

Other vendors have had this problem as well, of course.

My favourite is from Solaris, with this wonderfully understated yet horrifying bug description:

Hopefully the lesson was this: if you want bleeding edge, be prepared to bleed.
