Xerox chooses MandrakeLinux/Caldera Graphics to optimize enterprise production

Paris - June 6, 2002 - Xerox today announced that it has selected the
Mandrake Linux operating system for its XES (Xerox Engineering Systems)
department, which will deploy Mandrake Linux for customers and clients
interested in digital printing solutions based on Caldera Graphics RIP.
Almost 160 servers, 95% of the computer farm used by Xerox's Graphic Arts
department, run under the combination Mandrake Linux/Caldera Graphics RIP.

Savings and productivity gains

Mandrake Linux is an ideal technical choice for delivering high-productivity
to solutions associated with Xerox's X2 color wide-format printing
technology. Mandrake Linux ensures stability, power and compatibility for a
wide variety of computing areas such as graphic arts, industrial design, CAD,
GIS (Geographic Information System), and wide-format printing for high-volume
businesses.

The X2 technology is the fastest on the market, allowing high-volume
production with costs that are 30% to 40% smaller than those offered by other
digital products. X2 provides an unequalled production rate for color
documents at 57 square meters per hour. Production is simpler, more reliable
and effective.

"As the Colorgrafx X2 printer is the final component of the graphics chain,
we needed the integration of a powerful and stable solution that can take
full advantage of the quickness and quality provided by our technology.
That's the reason why XES has chosen the integration of a Linux solution --
it allows us to enjoy complete customer satisfaction in terms of speed and
quality.", explains Rodolphe D'Aléo, Graphic Arts Manager, XES.

Mac and PC compatibility eases Mandrake Linux integration

The choice of Mandrake Linux enables Graphic Arts providers to handle client
file formats created on any operating system, whether Mac or PC based. This
flexibility, further optimized by Caldera Graphics RIP software, works with a
number of data formats including PostScript, PDF, HP-GL, EPS, Tiff, Jpeg, Sun
Raster, SGI, Alias, SoftImage, PhotoShop, PNG, XWD, Gif, PBM, PPM, PGM,
SpotImage, PCX, BMP...

A solution designed by Caldera Graphics

A MandrakeSoft partner since 1999, the French-based company Caldera Graphics
has developed a modular architecture which allows their product to be easily
adapted according to customer's needs. Caldera Graphics is positioned in
digital imaging manipulation and imaging databases that are hosted on Unix
and Linux platforms. Their partnership with MandrakeSoft is based on the
strong reputation of the Mandrake Linux distribution as an ideal desktop
operating system, the affordability of the products, and easy
interoperability between Mac and PC environments. From the beginning of
MandrakeSoft's existence, Mandrake Linux solutions have offered ease of
deployment and administration while providing an unparalleled quality-price
ratio.

"We've been quickly convinced by the choice of Mandrake Linux as operating
system, because it was the only distribution enjoying the impressive Desktop
technology required to seduce customers coming from Wintel platforms.
Mandrake Linux also enables us to take advantage of its server tools for our
print-sharing under multi-platforms environments solutions. Easy to install,
robust and stable, with strong support quality, what more could we ask?",
says Joseph MERGUI, Sales Director, Caldera Graphics.

... and acclaimed by the heavyweights of the industry

Buttressed by its leadership in the high-volume inkjet electric Piezo
printing market, XES enjoys a pre-eminent position in the copying and graphic
arts areas. The company works with global accounts such as Total Fina Elf,
Alstom, Trafot, Gamichon, France REPRO Groupement, La Litho, Lettring, PSA,
French Minister of the Army, and associated organizations such as CEA.

Usability and simplicity have been key factors for XES and its customers.
Only a single day of training is required to handle the solution.

Caldera Graphics RIP is used in Europe as well as in the United States and
other countries. The RIP solution and XES received the Digital Printing and
Imaging Association "Best Product of year 2002" award in the United States.
