When they talk about mesh networking and zeroconf and some of the other "networked out of the box" programs and the limited access to the internet to get software updates, I can't help but get nervous about security.
I expect OLPC malware would spread peer to peer, a la the pre-Internet Windows viruses.
Hopefully he is right, and malware just won't be a big problem (principles like "easy to fix" might also help). I'm glad this interview at least covers the topic, and the fact that they have at least thought of things like SELinux looks promising.

It's likely that most of the boxes will be running firewalled and with little or no services turned on.
How's that different to the spread of malware on Windows currently? I don't see how mesh networking versus big-ISP networking makes this any worse.Thanks for asking about security
