Linux Professional Institute to Offer MySQL 5.0 Certification Exams
First Exams to be Presented at C3 Expo in New York
(Toronto, Canada and Cupertino, California, USA. June 22, 2006) The
Linux Professional Institute (LPI), (http://www.lpi.org), the world's
premier Linux certification organization, and MySQL AB, developer of the
world's most popular Open Source database, today announced a joint
initiative to offer MySQL 5.0 certification exams through LPI's global
proctor network, beginning with the C3 Expo, June 27th 29th, 2006 at
the Javits Center in New York City. Prosoft Learning Corporation, LPI's
affiliate in North America will be offering these exams at C3 Expo along
with LPI Certification exams.
Carsten Pedersen, Certification Manager for MySQL AB noted that the
growing popularity and demand for MySQL database certification has led
the vendor to partner with LPI's on-the-ground testing network: "LPI has
a world-wide network of proctors able to deliver paper exams where
computer-based testing is not viable. We are impressed with the program
LPI has built up over the past several years, and are happy to be
allowed to share their success. This partnership enables MySQL to work
with a well-respected test delivery and certification organization that
shares our goal of promoting Open Source professionalism through
certification."
Jim Lacey, President and CEO of LPI noted that this partnership with
MySQL was in keeping with LPI's Regional Engagement Initiative: Our
work with MySQL will assist our affiliates from around the globe to seek
out great synergies in offering both LPI and MySQL certification to our
customer base-particularly within the enterprise environment. This is
also true in North America, where we are launching this joint effort as
that market is one of the largest adopters of MySQL certification, said
Lacey.
Linux Professional Institute will offer both LPIC-1 exams (101 and 102)
certification exams at C3 Expo, June 27th 29th, 2006 in New York City
at the Javits Center. LPI has provided a 50% discount to registered C3
attendees to take the LPI exams. The normal fee for LPI exams is $150
per exam, and LPI will be offering these exams at the event at $75.00
each. All candidates can pay for their exams at the exam room by cash,
check or credit card to the LPI Proctor. Exam candidates must
pre-register on the LPI website at https://www.lpi.org/en/register.html
to receive a LPI identification number and must bring valid photo
identification and their LPI ID number to the exam events.
LPI will also offer exams for both MySQL 5.0 certifications (Developer
and Database Administrator) at the same location and date. The normal
fee for MySQL exams is $200 per exam, but they will be offered at a
special 50% discount at this event for $100 each. As with LPI exams, all
candidates can pay for their exams at the exam room by cash, check or
credit card to the LPI proctor. Exam candidates for MySQL exams must
obtain a MySQL certification ID from the MySQL website at
