Prentice Hall PTR Publishes Second Editions of Acclaimed Samba-3 Books: "The
Official Samba-3 HOWTO and Reference Guide" and "Samba-3 by Example:
Practical Exercises to Successful Deployment", both by Samba Team General
Secretary John H. Terpstra

ANNOUNCEMENT:

Publisher Prentice Hall Professional Technical Reference announces
publication of the Second Editions of the acclaimed Samba-3 guide and
reference books, titled: "The Official Samba-3 HOWTO and Reference Guide",
and "Samba-3 by Example: Practical Exercises to Successful Deployment".

"We have published these new Second Editions to fulfill a commitment to
provide the most current and updated documentation to Samba users around the
world," Terpstra said.

Both The Official Samba-3 HOWTO and Reference Guide and Samba-3 by Example
represent the most current and official written documentation for Samba-3.
The books are ideally suited as a complementary pair: Samba-3 by Example
will help new users to deploy Samba and get it up and running; then, the
moment they want to know how to tweak it/extend it/take it beyond the
examples and dive into its internal and external capabilities, they will
turn to the HOWTO & Reference Guide. [Samba-3 by Example comes bundled with
a CD-ROM that contains all example configuration files, scripts, and tools
covered in the book].

Some updates to the new Second Editions include:
*	completely updated to reflect the latest Samba releases and
migration techniques
*	added diagnostic techniques and validation steps
*	added detailed coverage of updating existing Samba networks and
integrating Samba-3 with Windows Server 2003 and MSFT Active Directory
domains
*	added full and complete Index and complete cross-Index

Both books will appeal to all Windows network users no matter how they use
Samba and furthermore, the books aim to create an environment of greater
interoperability between Windows and UNIX-based systems.

Samba-3 by Example has a suggested retail price of US$44.99 and The Official
Samba-3 HOWTO and Reference Guide has a suggested retail price of US$54.99.
