 Dear user of the Gimp:

 I am writing this lines to inform you about the insufficient
 public awareness of the Gimp and the miserable amount
 of it's professional users. I also would like to propose
 a quick solution to end this misery.

 First of all I would like to admit that the Gimp is
 a wonderful software, a program and a tool for my daily work.

 I feel sad about the insufficient public awareness of the Gimp.
 Reliable numbers from Google (20 Jul 2005):

 gimp+tutorials ======== 321.000 results
 photoshop+tutorials = 2.880.000 results

 "I use gimp" ======= 4.120 results
 "I use photoshop" = 31.800 results

 You might say this numbers do not represent the actual situation.
 Unfortunately, they really do !

 I know it, because I am an author on Gimps.de,
 that little website you might find on top,
 if you search for Gimp+tutorials on google.com

 Most enquiries that Gimps.de is receiving from Web surfers
 are not related to the Gimp. Most of them relate to fakes of
 those famous people, which you can find on gimps.de/wettbewerb

 I am concerned about the low popularity of the Gimp.
 The Gimp is a great tool and everyone with a digital
 camera should use it for photo retouching.

 There is a simple solution to end the deep unawareness of the Gimp.
 The Gimp needs more advertising to gain more users, developers
 and professional friends. The Gimp needs something like
 "spread firefox" or "get firefox", but in the more intelligent way.

 Gimps.de is not afraid of making the first step to show an
 example for possible advertising of the Gimp.
 Take a look at gimps.de/gimp/promo/en.htm to get a clue.

 Invest some little amount of time to help the Gimp
 find more users, friends and developers.
 Create your own advertisement or use the existing
 advertisement from Gimps.de.

Yours truly,

Yoshi Toshibo from gimps.de
