Editors Notes
From: Torben Nehmer <torben@nehmer.net>
------------------------------------------------------------------------

This weeks MWS is a shorter one, since usually there is not much that I
could report about. Two new columns are here therefore: Mailinglist
Summary will give you a short overview on what has been discussed on
the lists. The Bugtracker Summary will show the recent activities
registered by our bugtracker.

Again I would ask everybody that does something for Midgard to take
some time to prepare texts for the MWS. This is the best way for you to
get some publicity...

One thing else: Lately I began getting support requests about Midgard
as private Mails. I feel honored, really, but I'm not that good.
Especially, I don't have the time I would need to answer these request,
since it is difficult to get a job, Midgard, Roleplaying and a
Girl-Friend under one hat. So please send this mails to the
Mailinglists, you will get your help there a lot faster.

IRC back online
From: Torben Nehmer <torben@nehmer.net>
------------------------------------------------------------------------

I have set up an IRC server for Midgard again. Aimed for discussion and
help about and around Midgard. I hope that as many people from the
community join the channel there to create some online community. I
myself will be there most of the time. As stated above though, I won't
have much time for end-user support, I will mostly be there for
development discussion or for bug analysis.

The server can be reached here:
  irc.midgard-project.org (195.30.2.52)
  #midgard

The channel is protected by ChanServ. NickServ is also available. See
the motd for other available services.

If you want to use the IRC Server either for your own projects or for
private chatting, feel free to use Nathan's IRC Server as you like.
Just know one thing: Obey the law, I do not want to see any warez
trading or anything like that. Stick to it, and irc.m-p.org will have a
long live.

Mailinglist Summary

Recent Traffic on midgard-user shows, that Midgard's Installation is
still too difficult for the casual user, Questions about RPMs or DEBs
for various distributions keep popping up as well as regular requests
for .tar.gz Installation help. There are already some efforts at this
point: Notable is for example the planned deprecation of the
data-package, which totally separates Midgard from the desired Admin
Interface.

On midgard-dev Henri Bergius suggested to move Midgard to a PEAR in
Version 1.5. This would further streamline the process of installation
and give Midgard a wider spread.

Bugtracker Summary
Editor: Torben Nehmer <torben@nehmer.net>
------------------------------------------------------------------------

There were five new bugs since the last MWS all concerning Aegier, they
finally are getting close to their first release of Aegir 1.0 as it
seems. One of those bugs is already resolved.

On the Midgard's core bugtracking front currently almost nothing is
moving as the core team mostly doesn't have any time.

Want to continue reading MWS? Please help us create this newsletter.
Currently, it's mostly a one-man show, which is anticipated to fail in
the long term. We urgently need volunteer writers who prepare items.
Please see the contributing page to find out how to help. We're looking
forward to receiving your mail at [1].

Midgard is an Open Source Content Management System, visit our Homepage
[2] for further Information.
