This is a bit of a chicken and egg problem. I don't think GCC 4.0 will be full of nasty bugs, but any x.0 release is bound to have some issues. That said, these issues can't get worked out until many people actually start using the compiler and find out what the bugs are. What better place to put a new compiler than on a distribution which is specifically for pushing the envelope?
