I wouldn't worry about the "tone" at all. Linus isn't some frail petunia. In fact, Linus freely admits that he is one of the most brusque, if not out and out rude, individuals you will ever meet among Linux developers. In his position it's an asset; in this role, someone else with fragile sensibilities would be quickly steamrolled or suffer a nervous breakdown. Linus can dish it out. He can take it just as well.
Nevertheless, Linux probably needs a "kernel security officer" who would be the initial contact point when a vulnerability is discovered. It is shameful that these reports went unanswered for almost a month.

That's what I was thinking too, unless they already have some kind of process for that?
