Years ago, when Linus was rude to a developer, it was indicated that he couldn't speak to a person like that. He should reserve his criticism for the code, not the developers.
And now that he criticizes the code by using the word "garbage," it's indicated that such a term is unacceptable.
Where this language policing will stop?

Why should it stop? Some people just like to play on everyone's nerves and formal “code of coduct” is just an invitation for such a people to join to lord over everyone. The moment when the most important threshold was passed and there was created something that's above the Linus these endless games started. The only way to stop them is to abandon “code of conduct” and all these things associated with them… whether or not this is a good idea is debatable, though: in addition to people who would happily play games with words there are also some developers who couldn't deal with others in the absence of “code of conduct”… and we have no idea how many of them are there.
