Seriously?

Parent article: StarDict sends X11 clipboard to remote servers

I was most surprised by the laissez-faire attitude of the Debian maintainer. As the article states (for worse or better) Linux is known for a security and privacy stance. Most Debian users I know highly value privacy and then the maintainer of this package goes "sends all clipboard data unencrypted to some server without really telling the user? <shrug>".

I am glad that this was discovered (again).

Seriously?

That ’s because written Chinese is hard even for native Chinese speakers, shoehorning it into computers and smartphones involves writing simplified pidgin that software digests and regurgitates as clean logographs. So having a magic helper that slurps what you type and returns clean text is not an exception it’s the way Chinese use IT all day long.

Chinese logographs are the penultimate technical debt no one knows how to get rid of.
