That's what proper mailing list programs are for. I run a few (fairly low-volume) mailing lists and the mailing list software takes care of all the rewriting necessary to get the outbound messages to pass SPF, DKIM and DMARC.

As you said, old-fashioned mail forwarding like we used to do in the late 1980s has been broken for quite a while.

And what are 'proper mailing list programs' ? Does mailman still count? or (more likely) does it count only when 'properly configured'? If it can be improperly configured... why?

mlmmj certainly counts, and it's tiny, very simple to set up, sees minimal changes, and just works (even on ancient decades-old hardware).
