Smart TV manufacturers use libxml2. Pick up a smart tv and look at the software licenses stuff and you'll see libxml2 as one of them.
As a GNOME Foundation member and former director, it kills me that for such a critical piece of infrastructure code that nobody wants to donate to the foundation. Never mind other pieces like dbus.
I get it that companies love that they can use code that is maintained without paying for it, but there is always a cost one way or another.
